Launched last September, the English edition of POPEYE’s Tokyo Guidebook has been well-received both domestically and internationally. Picked up by City Boys and City Girls around the world, it has already gone through multiple reprints. Since its release, we’ve consistently received inquiries, particularly from overseas, about how to stock it in stores or where to purchase it. This Hello, Tokyo special issue was our very first all-English publication. We wanted to make a reliable companion and guidebook for all the City Boys and Girls visiting Tokyo from overseas.

While the issue is mostly based on our 2025 Tokyo feature, it also reprints must-read pages from Tokyo guides dating back to 2018. We’ve packed it with everything from classic sights like Tokyo Tower and Asakusa’s Sensoji Temple to local favorites like delicious restaurants and izakayas, as well as underground shopping spots. Beyond offering a list of places to visit, the book also traces Tokyo’s cultural heritage and the evolution of its unique, homegrown subcultural scenes. It’s a travel companion that shows you how to experience and understand Tokyo through POPEYE’s distinctive lens.
