Hello everyone, nice meeting you all here and hope you are doing well.
These are some stories of how our latest album ‘Another Half’ became whatever it is.

In February 2023, at Narita International Airport. It was the first international tour of Soft Pine after we had always been dreaming of it. After we got the immigration check and everything went smoothly. Carrying all the musical equipment and luggages while looking for the Narita Express. Suddenly there were some interviewers who randomly came to us and asked for the interview. “Why did you come to Japan?” They asked, and we told them that we had a show in Tokyo and Okinawa. So we introduced ourselves as a music band from Bangkok, Thailand, called Soft Pine, who were just good friends who love to enjoy making music together. They were really nice and excited so we had a good time having conversation or the interview for a while. Later we found out that this interview is from “Why did you come to Japan?” which is very famous and it will be broadcast on Television in Japan and so many so we felt a little bit … funny and nervous at the same time because it was so random and out of nowhere. I don’t think this story has an influence on our latest album anyway.

In Tokyo it was around 2-6 degrees celsius and since this was our first overseas tour and everything felt surreal. It was like our little dream became true to be here. As soon as we arrived at Shibuya station we noticed that everything here was fast, much faster than where we came from so we had to increase our tempo too. Our first show was at the livehouse in Setagaya called FEVER. We never could imagine that there would be people so far away listening to our music and then we had a chance to play our music live in front of them in real life, face to face and see their live reaction. It was the moment that we still feel like it was yesterday. After the show, they came to us to say hi and chat a little. That night was really really nice. Besides the show, we also had many many of good times from having some nice meals, walking in Yoyogi park, getting on the wrong train and becoming good friends with someone we had just met too. This tour truly boosted up our energy and magically motivated us, changing how we feel about the band and realizing how the music could connect us to the people.

After the tour ended, we carried the up-tempo energy and delightful spirit back to our home. The first thing we felt was we wanted to start making the new album immediately. Something more energetic and refreshing are the two main feelings that we aimed to create in this album. To be more energetic so we made ourselves energized too. There was a Thai local energy drink that we drank everyday while we were in the studio recording the album for around 4 months because good energy needs to be given to this record. This drink is called “Kratom tea”. Kratom is one of the local herbs in Thailand. Its leaf can be used to make a drink that increases enthusiasm and energy. In crazy daily life we need energy to surpass things that come through. And at the same time you can give back the energy to other people to inspire and to cheer up.

After we drink Kratom tea, we feel super energetic enough to infuse it in the record. Lead with bouncy uplifting sound and spirit. To be honest, This album wouldn’t become how it is without Kratom lol.

Before long, this October 2024 we will have our third Japan tour and we hope to see you at the dance floor!
