Going to “PURPLE PONY”.

@PARCO MUSEUM TOKYO

ART

 A new solo exhibition by French artist Jean Jullien, “PURPLE PONY” is now on view at Shibuya PARCO. Having temporarily relocated from Paris, Jean is currently based in Japan, and the show features 17 new works inspired by the things he sees, feels, and loves in his everyday life here.

 For Jean, Tokyo is a city where imagination melts effortlessly into the everyday. His depictions of ballparks or Shibuya’s Center-Gai blend fiction with humor. He treats fiction not as escapism, but as a lens for enjoying the familiar world around him—gently reframing and rediscovering daily life. In contrast to the tales of adventure and adversity found in JUJU’S CASTLE, currently on view at NANZUKA ART INSTITUTE in Shanghai, PURPLE PONY brings together a selection of softer, more tranquil works.

 Jean also created this year’s key visual for PARCO’s annual “HAPPY HOLIDAYS.” A lively cast of unique characters—paired with narration by Jean himself—brightens the holiday season. Be sure to check it out along with the exhibition!
